About

Velskov is a native forest farm in Auckland, New Zealand, founded in 2022 by Danish/New Zealander botanical artist and creative director Mamakan.

Our name, Velskov, is Danish and refers to a forest's well-being and prosperity—well + forest.

Velskov grows tea gardens and culinary herbs in a food forest, guided by the philosophy of GastroEcology.

We promote agroforestry and environmental protection through native forest farming, ecosystem conservation, and biodiversity initiatives.

Velskov is dedicated to growing Aotearoa New Zealand's native forests by rekindling our connection with nature.

HOSPITALTIY

Our experiences share knowledge of the local environment and promote the sustainable use of its resources.

The hospitality philosophy originates from the 2016 Art Biennale, GastroGeography: The Taste of Place.

Unique, regenerative, and deeply immersive, Velskov's New Zealand Tea Gardens & Food Forest provides an authentic eco-luxury escape in Auckland’s Waitākere Ranges.

Pioneering GastroEcology, Velskov connects human wellness to nature conservation.

Guests forage for native tea plants, enjoy guided tastings, and savour a co-cooked open-fire lunch in a scenic forest glasshouse.

In a living legacy experience, visitors name and plant their own tea garden.

Ideal for mindful premium travellers, Velskov offers intimate Wednesday shared tours or bespoke private journeys, with optional Māori cultural co-hosting and electric-vehicle transfers in the city.

GROUP VISITS

Our off-grid venue is for corporations and small groups of up to 20 people. Every venue hire helps fund the restoration of the original forest, an abundant, biodiverse ecosystem.
